The year 2022 will be remembered as a mixed bag of emotional rollercoaster that shook the Mzansi showbiz industry to the core

We kicked off 2022 with a low note, perhaps this was a signal of expecting the worst.
Royal AM chairman Andile Mpisane dumped baby mama DJ Sithelo Shozi after questioning the paternity of their second child.

Apparently, Sithelo had been cut off by the Mkhize family and the luxurious BMW which was gifted to her two months earlier had been taken back.

The TV industry was also dealt a huge blow when renowned veteran actor and director Patrick Shai reportedly took his own life at his house in Dobsonville, Soweto.

As we were still digesting Shai’s sad news, former Kaizer Chiefs star Jabu Mahlangu, popularly known as Jabu Pule (41) was admmited in a hospital in Brakpan. This followed a horrific car accident he was involved in at Benoni.

As if that was not enough, this year also claimed the life of one of South Africa’s media personality Kuli Roberts. It is believed she passed on after collapsing.

The year had a stock of its fair share of divorces. One classic example was that of media personality and actress Minnie Dlamini and her husband Quinton Jones who called off their marriage.

The lovebirds shocked their fans announcing their pending divorce through a joint statement.

Gospel icon Deborah Fraser, passed on following a short illness.

The whole nation was in tears after award winning hip hop artist Ricky Rick allegely committed suicide at his estate in north of Jozi.
His death came after the rapper had opened up in 2020 about his struggle with depression following the death of his father.

While Mzansi was reeling with shock following the passing of Ricky Rick, Umlando hit maker Toss had a near death experience when he almost lost his life due to fatigue. Toss, real name Pholoso Ramajoe, from Tsakane in western Jozi, collapsed while performing.

The nation was again gripped with sadness following the death of another local Hip-Hop icon. DJ Dimples, whose real name is Tumi Mooi. However, it emerged that he had some health issues after a show he was involved in.

Who would have thought that former Bafana Bafana star Matthew Booth could be exposed publicly by his wife Sonia for alleged cheating scandals. But yes she did it. The author and former model hired private investigators.

She took to her social accounts to expose her husband’s cheating shenanigans.

As the year was drawing close to a close, Metro FM and Daily Thetha anchor Pearl Shongwe was found dead by neighbours.
The 35-year-old Pearl was found lying dead alone in her home in Polofields north of Joburg.

This past weekend Big Nuz singer, songwriter and CEO of Westink Record Mandla Maphumulo popular known as Mampintsha died at the age of 40.

Mampintsha had suffered a stroke and was receiving medical attention at Durdoc Hospital in Durban.

As we were about to close 2022 calendar multi-award Kwaito star L’vovo Derrango (42) spent Christmas day on hospital bed after suffered a stroke.

L’vovo reportedly fell down during his perfomance recently.
