“These perverts self-proclaimed Bishops start churches to feed their greed and lust. All they want is easy money and access to low self-esteemed female congregants. They know that such women are attracted to popular, powerful or influential men because they seek validation”. This is how Ephraim Ndlovu described Bishop Makamu who was on the AmaBishop show on Moja Love on Sunday night.

Firstly Makamu, set the record straight by saying he’s not there to defend himself. “I’m not here to defend myself but I’m here to set the record straight, ” said the former Rea Tsotella host. Makamu was suspended by the station after a voice note where he is alleged to be coercing a young women into having sex with her made rounds on social media.

He also emphasized that he was not flirting and was not asking for sex. “I received the keys that I came there for and I didn’t have sex with her. She was done with school and I wouldn’t have employed her if she was 17-years-old,” said Makamu.

Kaybee Zungu lashed out Bishop Maponga on Twitter saying he was toothless: “Nimrod was grilling Makamu and he exposed him, Makhado too. If Maponga and Phiri did the same he would have told the truth instead they were defending him.

Joshua Maponga said he doesn’t see anything wrong with her (alleged victim) calling him daddy because in some communities, pastors automatically become a father to them.

Towards the end of the show, Nkosi spoke to the women’s father.

His images were distorted so as to not expose the identity of the woman involved. He gave a differing account to what Makamu had said, saying her daughter had been suicidal after Makamu’s uncomfortable conversation with her.
