Popular Maskandi artist, Khuzani Mpungose will visit kwaNondanya in KwaCeza eMahlabathini on Thursday to officially apologise to the Buthelezi clan. Khuzani made headlines earlier this month when he released a video on social media where he was mimicking inkosi Mangosuthu Buthelezi.
Buthelezi is the official prime minister of the Zulu Nation and he was the one directing a programme during the reading of the late Queen Mantfombi MaDlamini Zulu will when Prince Thokozani Zulu suddenly stood up to make a comment. The prime minister stopped him.
In the video, Khuzani is mimicking Buthelezi where he tells Prince Thokozani to sit down. The video has angered the Buthelezi clan. But after consultations with him and chief Mpungose of the Mpungose clan in Nkandla where Khuzani hails, and his producers, it has been agreed that he will apologise on Thursday.
“We would like to pass our gratitude to the Buthelezi clan and all other clans under the Zulu monarch for standing with us in dealing with this matter. This issue had potential to start unnecessary volatile situations after the careless mimicking of the prime minister of the Zulu nations, inkosi uMntwana wakwaPhindangene,” reads the statement from the Buthelezi traditional council.
