Obani lababantu singer dies on Covid-19 related illness

The old woman who brought South Africa to a standstill with her awkwardly popular song, Obani Lababantu has sadly died. Alpha Selepe whom went by the stage name G65, died in a Durban hospital where she is said to have been isolating after testing positive for the deadly virus.
“My beloved aunt, MumNcane who many of you known as GeeSixFive is no more. She displayed leadership throughout her life, has the epitome of fearlessness and inspired many with her single Obani Lalabantu” family member and well known journalist, Sbu Mpungose said on Wednesday morning.
GeeSixFiveFive was not only a new artist who took Mzansi entertainment fraternity by storm but also an academic. She just obtained her master’s degree at age of 63. She said the song was to inspire people to understand that they are never too old to follow their dreams.
She was also a retired teacher and PhD student at the university of KwaZulu-Natal. She was recently quoted in media saying old people have limitless opportunities.
“Old people can blend in wherever they want and they should never sell themselves short. I just wanted to send a message across to people, so I opted this kind of genre. I am welcoming every criticism, people have the right . This project was a once off, that what I’ve planned at this age” GeeSixFive said on Power FM.
