Durban Gen to replace Rhythm City?

Viewers of the much loved weekday soapie Rythm City which will be canned next year, need not worry as e.tv has a grand plan up their sleeves. Long-time fans of the soapie took to social networks to express their disgust after the free to air channel confirmed next year would be last the popular soapie would be on screen.
However The Purpose magazine has learnt from impeccable sources within the channel that The Durban Gen will replace Rythm City. The Durban Gen, which potrays a medical profession life, complex love story and is shot in Newlands in Durban, currently airs at 6pm on weekdays at the same channel. Rythm City flights at 7pm weekdays. The source said. ” Due to the rising number of viewership in The Durban Gen it was felt it would be wise if it is shifted in the 7pm slot to replace the outgoing Rythm City.
The station management believes this will boost the ratings and will in the meantime seek for a replacement for the 6pm slot from Monday to Friday,” said the source.
Another source said a Durban based production house has already begun holding auditions for the upcoming soapie which will debut next year.
For more than 10 years Rythm City captivated TV audiences with fascinating storyline and launched new faces who have become to be established actors in many productions. Amongst notable actors in the The Durban Gen, which has had critics praising its storyline and content, is Meshack Mavuso who is an experienced stage and TV actor. He has appeared on Yizo Yizo and Isidingo.
