Television drama producer Mandla KaNozulu Kheswa has revealed that he was not part of the team that produced Umkhokha.
The second season of the drama series premieres on Monday and there is so much expectation from the viewers.
Kheswa says he was removed by the production company which also led to the group that sings the opening theme song also quitting.
“Mandla KaNozulu is not involved in Umkhokha – The Curse,” wrote Kheswa in a statement. He posted it on social media on Monday morning.
“I wish to inform all my friends and followers of my work that I was removed last year from Umkhokha – The Curse which starts to air today.
“I was removed by the production company. After my removal, the Lamontville Cultural Ensemble decided to also withdraw from the show.
“Their music will therefore not be featured on this show except for their award winning opening track “Mkhululi Wezoni”.
“I decided to release this statement so that when the viewers like the new show, they give credit to the people who are producing it and not me.
“My name will continue to be credited on screen as I am the originator of the story concept.
“I remain humbled and grateful to Mzansi Magic for commissioning Umkhokha as a drama series and for making it a Telenovela.
“I also wish to thank the viewers for the resounding support they gave to Umkhokha,” added Kheswa.
