Emotional time as Noxolo says ‘Ndinithanda nonke emakhaya’ for the last time

It will be an emotional time as popular isiXhosa TV newsreader, Noxolo Grootboom bids farewell after many years of capturing the attention of viewers with her reassuring voice. Grootboom will read her last isiXhosa news bulletin on SABC 1 at 7pm on Tuesday.
Earlier on Tuesday, the president’s office announced that Cyril Ramaphosa will address the nation regarding the ongoing Corona virus pandemic. But later the “family meeting” time rescheduled. Rumours implicated that president rescheduled his address so people will not be between watching him and Grootboom’s last bulketin.
Speaking to Metro FM on Mo Flavor breakfast show Noxolo said she never thought that the nation would embrace her work this way.
“I was doing my job, and I never thought that people would love my work this way. I feel honoured,” Noxolo said.
She started working at SABC 37 years ago as a tyipst and elevated to be a famous newsreader who stole Mzansi’s viewers’ hearts.
Noxolo inspired the nation through her exceptional reading skills and her iconic signature sign off “Ndinithanda nonke emakhaya”
Noxolo was born and bred in rural areas of Eastern Cape. She was named by her grandmother as Noxolo which means the “mother of peace”
