Brief history of Queen Mantfombi MaDlamini Zulu

Queen MaDlamini Zulu of Khangelamankengana in Nkunzana area under Nongoma Local Municipality held the highest status among theate King Goodwill kaBhekuzulu’s six wives, as she came from royalty.

She was the Princess of eSwatini and the Great Wife of the Zulu Monarch. After the passing on of King Goodwill Zwelithini kaBhekuzulu, she served as Queen consort.

She was the sister of King Mswati III – Africa’s only absolute Monarch. She was also the daughter of King Sobhuza II and the grand daughter of King Somhlolo.

Queen MaDlamini Zulu had eight children – including five sons – with the late King Goodwill Zwelithini kaBhekuzulu.

Her children are Prince Misuzulu, Prince Bambindlovu, Princess Nomkhosi, Prince Mandlesizwe, Prince Lungelo, Princess Bukhosibemvelo, Princess Ntombizosuthu and Prince Simangaye .

Queen Mantfombi Zulu and King Zwelithini KaBhekuzulu married in 1977. Her eldest son, 47-year-old, Prince Misuzulu Zulu, born 23 September 1974 in Kwahlabisa, KwaZulu-Natal.

He studied at International Studies in Jacksonville, Florida, United States of America and is a strong candidate as King Zwelethini’s successor.
