Legendary musician Chicco Twala dragged into SABC v Owen Ndlovu battle
By Sihle Mkhize
Chicco Twala has been dragged into the court battle between SABC head of legal affairs, advocate Ntuthuzelo Vanara and sports commentator and music promoter, Owen Ndlovu.
It appears Twala had a failed business meeting with Ndlovu at SABC offices on January 4.
The Purpose has learnt that Twala has been a good friend of Vanara’s for many years.
Twala quoted in City Press saying he’s ready to meet with Ndlovu in court.
It is alleged that Twala contacted Vanara and updated him on the conversation he had with Ndlovu.
There have been allegations that some people have tried to hire hitmen to assassinate Vanara.
In an affidavit which is at our disposal filed by Twala he stated that Ndlovu elaborated that Vanara is the one who is messing things up. And that is why he will “deal” with him.
“I was invited to attend a meeting at SABC by Owen Ndlovu to discuss a Radio Monitoring System business that he owned with his wife.

“He complained about how the SABC top management was treating him, particularly Mr Vanara.
“I responded by asking why was it taking so long for him to get his money?
“Mr Ndlovu (then) elaborated that Vanara is the one who is messing things up, he additionally mentioned words such as: ‘He will pay for that’.

“And with a bit of laughter facially, he said in Zulu: “Ngizo deal’a naye ngiphethe izinja ezizo dea’la naye (I will sort him out, I have big dogs that will deal with him),” the affidavit reads.
In another affidavit penned by Vanara, he stated that the court should dismiss Ndlovu’s case because it has no factual basis.
“I make this affidavit to oppose an application for a protection order against me by Mr Michael Ndlovu.
“The application by Ndlovu has no factual basis. The allegations he makes against me have been quoted out of context to deliberately distort the true nature of our conversation,” affidavit reads.
The case has been postponed to March 3, 2023.
