Mpume Xulu hails from a place where some of the most successful musicians and politicians were also born. And like them, she is shining like a star. Going under the stage name, Mpume SA, the sultry songstress is from Nkandla. She was however raised in Durban.
“Since last year, I’ve been working on my music,” said Mpume. “And I have managed to release three singles. The first one is titled Sengihambile, Emhlabeni and Ngizenzemina which I featured Mzet,” Mpume said.
Mpume, who now resides in the City of Gold where she moved nine years ago, is not new on entertainment. She started performing in primary school.
“I grew up as a very shy kid but when it came to music, I came alive. I didn’t care who was watching, I just sang,” Mpume recalls.
This soft spoken and shy songbird says she’s not only a musician but also a poet. She started doing poetry in 2006. Last year she thought why not pursue music as a career and started writing and recording her songs.
The Afro-Pop singer writes her own music. She was raised by a single mother, Hleziphi Mabaso who is now late. She is now responsible for her three siblings.
“My goal is to touch souls with my music. I want to show others, especially from rural areas that it doesn’t matter where do you come from. What matters is where you are going. You need to know your direction,” said Mpume.
She also wishes to travel abroad and represent her country with her African inspired music. You can find her as Mpume SA on various social media platforms. Her music is available on digital platforms.
