Khanyi Mbau chosen as host of Basadi in Music Awards 2023
Hloni Modise, the CEO of the Basadi in Music Awards (Bima), has announced that Khanyi Mbau will be the host for this year’s prestigious event, set to take place at the Joburg Theatre on August 12.
Kanyi Mbau’s love for music and his unwavering support for women were key factors in the decision to select him as the host.
Following in the footsteps of previous hosts Anele Zondo and Moozlie, who are renowned rappers and television presenters, Khanyi Mbau brings his own unique flair to the stage.
Modise expressed the organization’s pleasure in having Khanyi Mbau on board and praised his flamboyance and ability to connect with people, making him the ideal choice for the event.
They hope that his passion for music and genuine support for women will shine through and create an unforgettable experience for the audience.
The Basadi in Music Music Awards will recognize outstanding artists in 24 different categories, with the nominees having been announced on June 29.
The event aims to celebrate individuals who have made a significant impact across various spheres.
In the Business Award category, notable figures such as singer-turned-entrepreneur Nhlanhla Mafu, broadcaster-turned-entrepreneur Thando Thabethe, and rapper-turned-entrepreneur Boity will be honored.
Additionally, the event will pay tribute to accomplished musicians from across Africa. These include Berita from Zimbabwe, Maleh from Lesotho, Mpho Sebina from Botswana, and Sefa from Ghana, at the Mosadi in Music in Africa segment.
Voting for the different award categories is now open through various channels.
