Mzansi mourns as revered journalist and socialite Kuli Roberts dies

South African media personality Kuli Roberts has passed away. It is believed this was after she had collapsed on Wednesday night.
Roberts, who was a revered Sunday World journalist and socialite made headlines last year when it was announced that she had joined Mzwanele Manyi’s African Transformation Movement (ATM).
It was said at the time that she would be contesting the local government elections.
She however strongly rejected Manyi’s claims that she had joined ATM but this had already led to her losing her job at Sunday World.
According to Sowetan Live Roberts collapsed at a function she had attended. A friend is quoted saying the family was expected to release a statement.
Kaya FM listeners will remember her voice that echoed alongside Skhumba and Bob Mabena. Kuli was a sister to actress Hlubi Mboya.
Roberts began her journalism career with Pace magazine. When the magazine closed down she joined Sunday World.
She shot to prominence with her famous column Bitch’s Brew. Roberts was a fashion editor and when she left she was news editor for the publication.
At the time of her death Roberts was working for Weekly SA Mirror, an online publication. Roberts left behind two children Tembela and Laeun, and grandkids.
