By The Purpose Reporter

It turned out to be a bad day at the office for would-be hijackers in Durban as their attempt was foiled as quickly as it had started.

And one of the hijackers is in a critical condition in hospital after getting shot in the head during their heinous act.

According to a statement by eThekwini Municipality, four men tried to attack and hijack a female driver in the city on Wednesday.

But to their surprise, there was a Metro Police officer behind the car they tried to repossess without compensation.

A Metro Police officer shot a suspected hijacker in an attempt to rescue a female driver.

The officer was travelling behind the victim’s car when the incident unfolded, reads the statement.

“Four male suspects approached the female victim’s vehicle in an attempted hijacking.

“Three shots were fired by the Metro Police officer, hitting one suspect in the head.

“The other three fled the scene,” Metro Police spokesperson Senior Superintendent Boysie Zungu said.
