Felix Hlophe to stay put at Gagasi FM amid Metro FM rumours

By The Purpose Reporter

It has emerged that popular Gagasi FM breakfast show presenter Felix Hlophe is staying put at the KwaZulu-Natal station.

Hlophe was recently rumoured to have been poached by Metro FM to join them.

But the presenter is staying in Durban, at least for now according to recent reports.

Hlophe has brought some stability to the Gagasi FM breakfast show since he joined.

He hosts the Uprising with Njabs Zwane who is fast becoming a force on her own.

The station had struggled to find a replacement when Mzo Gumede left them for Ukhozi FM some three years ago.

But now Hlophe, who is also a well-known comedian and MC, has filled that role and his show is said to be doing well.

And according to a report by Isolezwe, Hlophe has a binding three year deal with  Gagasi FM.

“He has a three year contract which binds him to Gagasi for that period before he can think about leaving.

“As it is now, he is in the first year of that deal, there are still two more to go.

“So he cannot just up and leave before that contract is over,” a source is quoted as saying.

The source further revealed that with the expected changes in the station’s lineup, Hlophe’s slot is not under question.

“With the changes coming at the station as per the norm every year, his contract will not be affected. It is a three year deal,” the source added.

The changes at Gagasi FM are expected at the end of March. The report meanwhile quoted the station’s media officer Khulekani Shandu.

He confirmed that Hlophe is staying: “As I had said before, Hlophe is not going anywhere.”

Shandu could not however confirm nor deny the length of Hlophe’s contract with the station.
