Famed Umlazi restaurateur Max survives execution style shooting

The owner of popular Durban hangout Max’s Lifestyle in Umlazi, Max Mqadi has survived an attempted execution on Thursday evening.

According to a security patrol company’s social media post, Max was just about to leave his establishment in Umlazi when unknown gunmen opened fire on him.

“Two suspects fired the shots Max entered his vehicle. He managed to drive to Florida Road, Morningside. He was (then) taken to hospital.

“He sustained four gunshot wounds,” read the post from Task Force Protection Services on Thursday evening.

It is not clear as yet how serious his injuries are but it is believed they are not too serious or critical.

KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson Colonel Thembeka Mbhele confirmed the incident to the Daily News.
