The annual Goduka Maskandi festival is coming back with a bang. This was confirmed to us by the show’s organisers this week.
The organiser, who is popularly known as Pastor Mjosty is over the moon after announcing the return of Goduka Maskandi festival 2022.
This after Covid-19 strict rules and regulations prohibited event organisers in the past two years from hosting such.
Last year, Goduka was held at Eyadini Lounge, and numbers of attendance were limited.
But on December 3, Goduka will bounce back to its original venue which is King Zwelithini Stadium in uMlaza, south of Durban.
“Music lovers all over social media are excited about this festival,” enthuses Mjosty who also doubles as a comedy actor.
“We’re welcoming them. As much as Goduka is dominated by Maskandi artists but it is a mixture of various genres, That makes it more attractive.

“We’re privileged and honoured that one of the living Maskandi legends Phuzekhemisi is scheduled to perform.”
He said the name goduka is used to tell someone to go back home, And the festival is held just as migrant workers are getting ready to trek back home for the festive holidays.
“Most of the people are working in cities like Durban and Jozi, so this is a goodbye event in a sense,” Mjosty quips.
Phuzekhemisi said he was also thrilled and promised to give his best performance ever on stage.
“I can perform all my hit songs but Imbizo will remain the best. People must come in numbers and witness the beauty of Goduka,” he said.
Mjosty also promised maximum security from the entrance to the stage. Street vendors are also welcome.
Tickets are on sale at Shoprite/Checkers and Spar starting from R100 for general and R500 for VIP. The event will start at 11 am and run until the next morning.
