Former Orlando Pirates player lands Cape Town City deal

DStv Premiership title chasers Cape Town City FC have signed former Orlando Pirates striker Justin Sbonga. The 24-year-old joined the Citizens from the Premiership new boys Tshakuma Tsha Mandzivhandila (TTM).

The Zambian arrived in the country back in 2017 joining the Buccaneers from his home team Nkwazi F.C. After scoring 16 goals in 46 matches and 77 assist in all competitions for the Soweto giants, he was released by Bucs towards the end of last season.

He joined the Limpopo outfit TTM in October last year while they were still playing in the GladAfrica Championship.

He made six appearances for them scoring just a single goal. Cape Town City look to strengthen up their attack after they lost a seasoned striker Kermit Erusmus to Mamelodi Sundowns in the off season.
In their statement the Citizens confirmed the capture of the Zambian marksman.
“Cape Town City has reached a transfers agreement with TTM for the acquisition of Justin Shonga. The Zambian forward signed a deal until June 2024,” reads the statement.
City’s next assignment is this Saturday against troubled Kaizer Chiefs in the league encounter at Cape Town Stadium at  5pm. Shonga will be expected to make his debut for the Citizens in this match.
