Death of SABC’s Pearl Shongwe has Mzansi shocked
She was found lying dead alone in her home Polofields, north of Jorburg

Condolence messages are pouring in after Metro FM and Daily Thetha anchor Pearl Shongwe was found dead by neighbours.
The 35-year-old Pearl was found lying dead alone in her home in Polofields north of Joburg on Tuesday afternoon.
“The SABC has learned through the family of Pearl Shongwe that she has sadly passed away.
“The SABC extends its heartfelt condolences to the Shongwe Family,” the public broadcaster wrote on its social media platforms.
Others also started sending through their messages of support for the family on Twitter.
“It’s so sad to hear of the passing of Pearl Shongwe, I was humbled to be interviewed by her on the Daily Thetha show.
“My condolences to her family, friends and colleagues,” said Kim Heller.
Fikile wrote: “Condolences to the family, colleagues and friends.” The cause of Pearl’s death is unknown at the moment.

Gauteng Province SAPS had not commented at the time of publishing. Pearl was born in Soweto, Gauteng.
Her career kicked off in 2010 when she worked for youth radio station YFM as an entertainment reporter, alongside Mo Flava.
Shongwe also featured on the SABC 24hr News channel as a sports host on Sports Live. She moved on to co-host Morning Live on weekends alongside Simphiwe Ncongwane.
