“Young people must stay away from blessers because they are not as good as their money.”
These are the words of etv’s Durban Gen and BET’s Red Tap actor Khayelihle Sibisi.
Khayelihle was speaking to The Purpose shortly after the screening of the Unexpected movie which was held at SJJ Popsicle and Lounge in Durban on Sunday.
Khayelihle plays the role of a ‘blesser’ that dates a woman who falls in love for her own gains.
The woman fell for the blesser to get money from him so that she can help her sick mom.
“It’s good to play the role which speaks directly to the youth. More so because a number of them are dating older guys or bleseers just for benefits.
“It’s about time we start having a conversation with regards to our youth who sacrifice their bodies for benefits.
“People may think blessers are the way to go when they are in need. I beg to differ, it’s wise to go and look for help than selling your soul,” he said.
The Unexpected movie also features actors like Taiwo Kazeem, Zama Gumbi, and Lindokuhle Msomi to mention a few.
“It’s a nice feeling being part of a cast with different kinds of people. We are used to working with people from Durban.
“But this time we are working with people across the African continent which makes this movie unique.
“The message is clear, the youth must stop selling themselves cheaply to the blessers no matter how bad the situation at home,” said Zama.
Zama plays the role of a mother who failed to behave in her youth days and is now sick and is HIV positive.
