The “real” Soweto derby ended up in an unpredicted draw

Orlando Pirates drew 1-1 in their DStv Premiership match with Moroka Swallows at Orlando Stadium on Sunday afternoon. Ben Motshwari managed to break the deadlock with an unstoppable shot past Virgil Vries on 85th minutes.
Kamohelo Mahlatsi from Moroka Swallows popped up with a levelling goal in the 93rd minutes. The match could have ended up in a 2-1 victory for Pirates, if the penalty was given to Buccaneers.
The match lived up to its expectations as it was entertaining as far as soccer is concerned and both teams displayed all on a very wet and tricky playground.
The draw was inevitable as history tells that these two Soweto giants have played draws in the past 14 encounters with each other. The Buccaneers Ben Motswari took home the DStv man of the match trophy as the teams shared the points.
The match could have ended up in a 2-1 victory for Pirates, if the penalty was given to the See Robbers. This results leaves the Dube Birds with a total of 22 points in the second place, behind the log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns. The Buccaneers remains in 6th position with a total of 14 points after 9 games played.
