Ihhashi happy to see dream come true with launch of new maskandi group

The launch of legendary maskandi musician Ihhashi Elimhlophe’s new group, Ihhashi Movement was a huge success. 

The glamorous event was held at World of Yamaha Theatre in Sandton, on Wednesday afternoon. 

Ihhashi Movement combines two groups discovered in the Eastern Cape and kwaZulu-Natal during a talent search. 

The event was attended by the big wigs of Jozi who also pledged their assistance with an above R60 000, sneakers and other necessary necessities to uplift Ihhashi Movement.

Yamaha sponsored the group with more than sixteen guitars. The crowd favourite Bongani Shabalala received an exclusive guitar worth  R15 000.

Speaking at the event, Ihhashi Elimhlophe thanked everyone who believed and supported his vision. 

Those included Dr Musa Zulu and his wife, Thuli Zulu as well as Bongani Mhlanga.

“I embarked on this journey simply because I want to change the disadvantaged musicians’ lives. 

“My vision is to witness these young boys become independent one day. 

“This is the beginning, the best is yet to come for my protégés,” said Ihhashi. 

He said he will tour other provinces to unearth other traditional music groups and also plans to stage a festival. 

The event was co-hosted by Ihhashi Elimhlophe’s famous daughters Vusiwe Ngcobo and Ntombi Mzolo. 

He also shared the stage with his new group. His wife, Ebony Ngcobo, saluted, especially the Yamaha and Bidvest for coming to their rescue.
