New twist in soccer star Lorch’s sentencing hearing

Hold onto your hats, folks, because the Thembinkosi Lorch saga just took a twist that has us all on the edge of our seats.

The Orlando Pirates’ midfielder’s sentencing hearing at the Randburg Magistrate’s Court has been postponed.

He’ll have to wait until September 4, 2023, to find out his fate, and the drama is far from over.

Let’s rewind to June when the scandalous affair began. Lorch was found guilty of assaulting his ex-girlfriend, Fundiswa Mathithibala.

And the court didn’t hold back in revealing all the juicy details. It was a fiery dispute that turned lovebirds into adversaries at Lorch’s Midrand, Johannesburg, residence.

Oh, but it doesn’t end there. Lorch’s friend swooped in to help him make a hasty exit, adding a real-life soap opera twist to the story.

As the courtroom drama unfolded, the National Prosecuting Authority’s spokesperson, Phindi Mjonondwane, spilled the beans on Lorch’s behaviour during the trial. Remorse?

Not a trace! This supposedly remorseful soul failed to impress, and the court ruled that the ball of abuse was firmly in Lorch’s court.

Now, the big question is: How will Orlando Pirates handle this hot potato?

Despite being fined by the team, Lorch hasn’t faced further consequences following the court’s decision.

The team is playing it cool, waiting to see how the sentencing unfolds before deciding whether to show him the red card. Or just bench him for a while.

Drama at its finest, is it not? But wait, there’s a glimmer of hope amidst the chaos.

Lorch claims he attended counselling and anger management courses to work on himself.

Will this last-ditch effort be enough to sway the judgement in his favour? Only time will tell.
