Bushiri’s daughter dies, he blames government officials for delaying her treatment

By SIHLE MKHIZE

Infamous pastor Shepherd Bushiri’s 11-year-old daughter has died after a short battle with a lung infection. She died in a Kenyan hospital where she was receiving treatment since February.

“It is with deep sadness that I announce the passing on of my daughter, Israella Bushiri. As a father it was my desire to see her grow and serve the Lord, however, the will of God was for her to return back to Him.

“Israella was a strong young girl who loved to worship and serve God, despite her young age,” wrote Bushiri on his social media pages when he confirmed the death.

“She was brilliant in her speech and possessed a divine excellency in the way she spoke and even tackled her studies.”

Having been delayed as authorities wouldn’t allow her and her grandmother to leave Malawi because of travel restrictions related to Covid-19 regulations, Bushiri says had that not happened, her daughter would have gotten treatment earlier and probably survived.

“When I spoke to the Doctor, he highlighted that if she had not been blocked at the airport the first time she needed to travel to Kenya for medical assistance, she wouldn’t have passed on.

“It is very disheartening and sad, therefore, that my daughter has become a victim of the persecutions that we are facing from South Africa. However, my wife and I, bow to God’s sovereignty and as this is his will, it could have happened anyway,” said Bushiri.

The Malawian pastor and his wife currently have a pending fraud and money laundering charge and are out on bail. They became infamous when they skipped the country and fled to Malawi after they were granted bail.
